Professor Gloria M. de Guzman, PhD, is the holder of the Canadian Professorial Chair in Business Management and a member of the core faculty of the Executive Education and Lifelong Learning Center. She has served as Associate Dean for Executive Education and Program Director of the Master in Business Management Program. Her areas of interest include Leadership and Organization Change, Corporate Culture, and Strategic Human Resource Management.
Prior to teaching in AIM, she was a Principal in the Organization and Human Resource Management practice of SGV Consulting and in the Change Management Services practice of Andersen Consulting. She has had extensive local and overseas management consulting experience with leading corporations in the areas of organization restructuring, corporate culture management, climate studies, performance planning and appraisal, management training and development, job evaluation, and compensation and benefits planning. After her withdrawal from the SGV partnership, she served as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) advisor to the ASEAN Secretary General on the strengthening of the organization and human resource management of the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Prof. de Guzman's previous teaching experiences include stints at the University of the Philippines College of Public Administration, National Defense College of the Philippines, and Assumption College, where she taught courses on the dynamics of social change, psycho-social foundations of national security, socio-cultural environment of development, and research methods. She was also formerly director for research and a member of the directing staff of the Philippine Executive Academy at the University of the Philippines.
She has received full qualification and accreditation (APT Qualifying Training Program) as administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Step I and Step II. She is also a certified master trainer in Interaction Management and a certified program administrator in Targeted Selection, both of which are programs of the Development Dimensions (Asia) International, Inc.
Professor de Guzman obtained her Master in Public Administration degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sociology from the University of the Philippines. Under a Ford Foundation scholarship, she obtained a Master of Science degree in Development Sociology from Cornell University.
